Design is in the Details: Hanging Roman Shades

One of my favorite details in the Room of the Week is the gorgeous roman shades.  It’s the small details that really make them stand out: they are trimmed in black, mounted outside the window so they are extra-large, and paired with a pelmet box.  If they had been mounted inside the window and didn’t have trim they would still function well, but would be less of a statement in the room.

When you are deciding to put up roman shades the first thing you have to consider is if you want to mount them inside or outside the window frame.  You can make a lot of good arguments for hanging them inside the window frame, but here are my arguments for hanging them outside.

Did I miss a good reason to mount roman shades outside the window?
