Applied Design: Using Bold Furniture in a Traditional Space

I love the bold headboard in the serene Room of the Week.  And, I think it works so well in what is otherwise a very traditional room because the color palette was taken from the fabric, so it fits seamlessly into the room. Also, the blue wall color is a softer version of blues in the fabric on the headboard, which keeps the room serene despite the crazy pattern.

Here are a few more examples of bold furniture, with two versions of paint: one that could help to tone the furniture down for a more traditional space or a bolder color that could be used for a more modern or eclectic room.

Do you have a piece of furniture or a textile you have used to inspire a paint color in your house?
