Design is in the Details: Ceiling-Height Backsplash

The ceiling-height backsplash in the Room of the Week is a beautiful patterned tile.  It creates a strong, and stunning,  focal point in the room.

A full wall of tile can be a beautiful way to create a focal point, add color, pattern and texture to your space, and create a clean-able backdrop for cooking…though it will cost more of course!  Here are several beautiful examples and some questions to think about when you look at them:

  1. How does the tile meet the ceiling? Directly? Or is there molding?
  2. Is the tile adding color, pattern or texture? Or all 3?
  3. How does the tile enhance the kitchen cabinets? Windows?
  4. How does the create or add to the style of the kitchen?  Does it make it more modern, traditional, country, eclectic?
