Color Palette: Tie it Together

That beautiful wallpaper in the Room of the Week (from Schumacher) was most likely the starting point for the color palette. It’s a really busy wallpaper in a busy room, but all the red accents on the shelves create a thread that ties the wallpaper and other design elements together.  Creating a thread of color in the room creates rhythm that helps your eye to cut through visual clutter.

Red was the accent color of choice in the Room of the Week, but any of the colors could have been equally successful in creating a thread of color to tie everything (especially everything on the shelves) in the room together.  I put together accessories/furniture using the colors in the wallpaper to show you what I mean…

What’s your favorite combo? Do you have an accent color that ties the colors in your house together?

I’m typing this late at night, so hopefully it makes sense!
