Design in the Details: Black(ish) Countertops

There are lots of details in the Room of the Week that I love.  But, one of my most favorite details is the gorgeous black countertops…with all that brown swirled in.

White countertops are very popular currently, especially white marble options.  But the black(ish) countertops in this room do a great job breaking up the white walls and windows on the top half of the kitchen and the green counters on the bottom half.  And, it helps tie in the darker tile, brown cabinets, and dark wood flooring, as well as contrasting nicely with the lighter countertops on the island.  And, something about them makes this kitchen feel less new.

There are beautiful black countertop options in a variety of materials to fit any budget.  Here are a few of my favorites:

What do you think of these black countertop options?  Would you ever do black countertops in your own home?
