Applied Design: Mixing Patterns like Thom Filicia

I love the mix of patterns in the Room of the Week.  Each fabric presents a new color and pattern combination, but they all fit together beautifully.  Yesterday I talked about the color formula that made this room successful and since the fabrics in this room heavily shape the color palette that formula can also be used for mixing patterns.  Try combining a few summery colors, with some neutral tones, and a darker more solid fabric to ground the bunch.

Thom Filicia has his own line of gorgeous fabrics for Calico Corners, and I used some his fabrics to demonstrate the formula. pairing-patterns-the-thom-filicia-way copyHow do you feel about lots of pattern in one room?  Love it or leave it?
