The Room of the Week looks beautiful with the daylight streaming in. And, the walls really do glow even with bright light. But imagine if only the lamps were lit and the curtains were drawn. The paint color would darken so the walls would be less noticeable, except where they were lit up by the lamps and chandelier and glowed.
When you pick a paint color you make choices based on trends and preferences…but it’s also helpful to consider the function of the room, and more specifically the time of day the room will be used. For example, you might want a brighter breakfast nook to enjoy as you wake up, or a light room where your children play in the afternoon. But, if you have a room you use mostly at night for lounging, tv-watching, dining, or entertaining you might want to consider choosing a color that will be successful with pretty overhead lighting or soft task lighting and without the help of daylight.
Here are a few rooms that, though photographed during the day, would look even more beautiful at night.
