When you are designing a room you never know where you will find your inspiration. The color palette in the Room of the Week was definitely inspired by the colors in the patterned rug. I love that the designer let the patterned rug be the only patterned textile in the room, and by keeping the pattern on the floor it allows the sight line to remain clear and uncluttered.
One bold patterned textile underfoot + one solid-colored textile at chair height = a perfect way to create a clean and crisp transitional space.
I’ve paired a few transitional patterned rugs with upholstered dining chairs inspired by one of the colors found in the palette created by each rug.

And, just a little tip…all the featured rugs come from HomeDecorators.com. It’s a shop I often forget about, but their rug selection is incredibly expansive, reasonably priced and super user-friendly. I promise you will find something you like, no matter what style you prefer.
