Decorated for the Holidays: A Craftsman Kitchen

I love visiting homes at Christmas time and seeing how they choose to decorate each space.  Kitchens aren’t typically decorated because they still need to be highly functional…especially at this time of year.  So, when thinking about how I would add a touch of Christmas to the Room of the Week I tried to keep things off the counter and out-of-the-way, but still within the line of sight.  I picked a woodland theme that I thought would work well with the Craftsman style, and wouldn’t be too glitzy.  And, I incorporated purple accents inspired by the rug with a touch of yellow to balance it out.  And, the design of the room itself, namely the open shelving, really lends itself to decking the halls.

I hope it inspires you to think about your own kitchen and small ways you could dress it up for Christmas.

Do you have a theme for your holiday decorations?  Or do you just stick to a color palette?
