Color Palette: Using Radiant Orchid

The gorgeous purple rug in the Room of the Week adds so much warmth to the room.  It’s deep purple color works well with the dark woods already in the room and its royal color elevates the entire design of the room.  Since it’s really the only large swatch of color other than the white and wood your eye is immediately drawn to its deep shade.  And, it’s right on trend.  Pantone (a worldwide authority on color and color trends) just released their color of the year for 2014 and it’s Radiant Orchid.

An, as usually happens, we’ll start to see orchid-hued furnishings and accessories pop up everywhere.  This particular shade is bright and fresh, but there are lots of accessories already popping up in a variety of purple hues.  Here are a few of my favorites already on the market and ready for your home.

What’s your feeling about the new color of the year?  I have to admit that I have never loved any shade of purple, but I do think this particular shade is fresh and happy and will pair well with lots of other colors, so it will be easy to mix-in.
