Design is in the Details: Updating Original Moldings

Just popping in with a quick post today to share my favorite little detail from the Room of the Week.  I really love the beautiful and very ornate decorative molding joining the ceiling and walls (it’s hard to see, but if you click on the photo you can view it larger).

I love that it connects the house with its past life, but the white color allows it to subtly blend in with the walls and look fresh and modern like the rest of the furnishings and accessories in the room.

Would you keep such ornate moldings in your home or change them out for a more contemporary option?  Would you add them to a new home?
