Color Palette: Reinterpreting a Coastal Palette for the Rest of the Country

The sand, sea, sky color palette in the Room of the Week is one of my favorite color combinations.  And, I especially love it in a beach house.  But, it’s such a pretty combination that it shouldn’t be banned from the rest of the country, especially since everyone can find inspiration in their own soil and sky colors.  Build your palette around the blue and brown tones in your part of the country, whether you live in a southwestern desert or on the prairie.

Use location specific artwork and wood furniture in tones and shapes that fit the style in your part of the country so that your design looks relevant to where you live.  Here are a few ideas to inspire:
