Design is in the Details: How to Style Furniture Around a TV

Or course it rained all day yesterday so I couldn’t photograph my backyard patio.  So, I decided to share one of my favorite little details from the Room of the Week.  I love the way the dresser is styled beneath the TV.  It’s a common set-up in a lot of homes, but a tricky spot to style.  Here are three different consoles all styled attractively, without getting in the way of the TV visibility.

Room of the Week: Candlesticks | Books | Vintage Teak Bowl
Room #2: Potted Plant | Quirky Sculpture | Stack of Books | Owl Candle | Rope Lamp
Room # 3: Lantern | White Vase | Tiny Votive | Palm Frond Sculpture

Here are a few tricks you can learn from these beautifully styled dressers:

  1. pay attention to balance…with the TV and within the decorations
  2. when in doubt, think in odd numbers…you can include the TV in your count
  3. vary the heights of everything…make sure to include things that are short and can fit underneath the TV, and items that are almost as tall as the TV

Have a great weekend!  I hope you join me back here next week.
