Piece de Resistance: Velvet Furniture

I love the velvet chaise at the end of the bed in the Room of the Week.  The velvet adds warmth and subtle texture with its golden color.

Velvet is definitely a fall trend this year, but I don’t know anyone who buys a piece of furniture for just one season.  So, how do you make the deep rich colors and textures of velvet-upholstered furniture look good year-round?  I put together some scenarios using two modern pieces of velvet-upholstered furniture…decorated for summer and fall.

I’m not advocating that you change artwork and throw pillows and candles and rugs every season, just hoping to inspire you as you cozy up your home for the colder months, or are considering adding a velvet piece to your home but are concerned about how it will fit in warmer months.

I’m not one for adding lots of fall “decorations,” but I do love to cozy things up.  What’s your fall decorating style?
