Home for the Holidays

I’m going to mix things up this week and forgo the standard Room of the Week posts in favor of some more Christmas-y posts.  First up, I thought I would share a few photos of Christmas at my own house.  I don’t go crazy…I mostly keep things in our living room, with some plants and small touches in the rest of the rooms.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetEvery year I buy some small trees for my front door and then plant them in the spring!

livingroomMy living room is fairly simple…just a few touches of pine on the coffee table and some candles and books.coffeetable

coffeetable2Our Christmas tree has been decorated in this orange and blue scheme (my favorite color combo) for several years.  I would love to change it, but every year I decide to spend the money on other things…decorating for Christmas can get so expensive!  My kids each have their own trees in their bedrooms…just some tiny fake trees we pull out every year and they get to decorate themselves.tree3

peace2Last year I bought a few little village houses at thrift store and the dollar store and spray painted them white..add a little fake snow, bottlebrush trees, some little cars and lights and you’re all set!  I’ll probably add to the village this year after Christmas since my kids love it so much.peace1And, I’ve been gradually adding little pine swags above the beds…they are simple and out-of-the-way, but just the right amount of Christmas.bedroomThis week before Christmas always seems like the most crazy week!  Hopefully you are feeling a little bit of the sweet peace that comes with this season.500-daisy-upholstery-nails-brass-furniture-studs-tacks-[2]-436-p copy
